Q: Why isn't there a lid – does this mean my freezer will smell?
A: No, the compost freezes quickly and therefore has no time to
decompose or produce an odor. Therefore, there is no need for lid – it would
only get in the way.
Q: What is the advantage of the Bin over an recycled plastic container?
A: Plastic containers need to be left to thaw in order to be emptied easily. The Bin doesn't require any planning, you simply flex the bottom and all of the scraps pop out fast and easy. The purpose of the Bin is to make the process as easy and to require no waiting. We want composting to be as easy as possible.
Q: Is it safe to have silicone near the food in my freezer?
A: Yes, silicone is safe material to have near your food in your freezer. Just don't bake a cake in it!
Q: Is it dishwasher safe?
A: Yes. The Bin is made from 100% food grade silicone. It is safe to
put in the dishwasher with your other dirty dishes.
Q: Do I have to wash my bin every time I use it?
A: No. When you empty your Bin, there will be no residue left
behind. A quick rinse, wash, or wipe will do the job.
Q: Do I have to dry my bin off before putting it back in the
freezer?
A: No. Silicone naturally repels water, so any bits of water left on
the Bin will disappear quickly in the freezer.
Q: How much compost does the Bin hold?
A: About 3.5 liters or 1 gallon.
Q: Will the Bin be cold to touch when I take it out of the freezer?
A: No. Silicone does not freeze and never gets very cold to the the
touch.
